Crime/Penalties
If loss of $1,000 or more: imprisonment with or without hard labor up to 10 years, or fine up to $10,000, or both; if loss of $500 or more, but less than $1,000: imprisonment with or without hard labor up to 5 years, or fine up to $5,000, or both; if loss of $300 or more, but less than $500: imprisonment with or without hard labor up to 3 years, or fine up to $3,000, or both; if loss of less than $300: imprisonment with or without hard labor up to 6 months, or fine up to $500, or both, but if there have been 2 or more previous convictions: imprisonment with or without hard labor up to 3 years, or fine up to $3,000, or both; perpetrator may be ordered to make full restitution to victim and any other person who suffers financial loss
